1286 topboard not usable on modern computer ?

Hi,

When compiling a sketch for the 1286 topboard I get the error "error=86, Bad CPU type in executable" which seems to come from avrdude.

As 1.6.5 is the latest arduino ide supported, and I think the avrdude version is included in the ide which is not updated anymore, does this mean it's not possible to get a working compiling environment for the 1286 on a 64 bit computer ?

Thanx,

Peter.

Which system you have? this is a common problem on MacOS, because the architecture of CPU.

in MacOS installing Rosetta 2 fix this.

Update the IDE to a version 2.x or Higher, in the last update Arduino adds a fix on Mac version
