The last couple of months we've been busy searching for, and evaluating a good range of accessories that can be handy in your automation projects.
Today we are adding the first few of these accessories to our website! We only want to add accessories that we would personally want to use. Parts that work great, look great and feel great. We will be incorporating these accessories in demo projects that will show you how to select the right model for your application, how to connect everything up and how to write code to interface with them.
One of our favourite accessories are the range of limit switches that we chose. The main mechanical components of these switches are nice cast and machined metal, with a sturdy thermoplastic cover that can be unscrewed to insert your cable through the gland and connect to the screw connectors. The spring loaded mechanism of these switches feels really smooth and robust, guaranteeing a long service life.
Complementing the family of input devices we've also added 6 types of monolever switches - aka industrial joysticks - ( with different choices of lever action) and 12 types of foot switches. Foot switches are ideal for machine designs where an operator needs both hands free while controlling the sequence of the machine.
As an initial output device we've selected a 3 layer signal tower. These great looking indicator lights add clear status messaging to your automation project (you might have seen one of these on the top corner of a pick & place machine). The signal tower is mounted on an aluminium support bracket which can be installed onto of your installation, clearly visible from any direction and distance. The three layers of the tower each have a separate colour (Green, Orange and Red), which can for example be controlled by your Industruino to show running - standby - fault - conditions of your installation. The light is provided by internal LED modules, for a bright and uniform light. The choice of LED light also means that bulb replacements are a thing of the past, something which is important for an indicator that could potentially be an integral part of your safety system.
We look forward to adding more useful accessories in the coming weeks. If in the meantime you are looking for something which is not shown on the site, please don't hesitate to contact us. Any requests or suggestions are welcome.
Our first use of these accessories will be to built an interactive installation for Maker Faire Rome. At the booth you will be able to control the installation and get a first hand experience of Industruino in a typical automation scenario. We hope to meet you there between the 16th and 18th of October!
Best Regards,
Loic & The Industruino Team
